What is peppermint oil used for

Black Elderberry

Elderberry is one of the most used plants for medicine and can be an immunity booster. Black elderberry is native to the warmer areas of North America, Europe, Asia and Northern Africa. The fruit is high in flavonoids called Anthocyanins, which give the berries their rich purple and red colouring.

What are black elderberries used for

Black elderberries are naturally rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, vitamin B6, iron, vitamin A, potassium and other nutrients. Elderberries have traditionally been used by many tribes as a tonic to promote health and vitality. Ancient Egyptians even used elderberries to improve their complexions and heal burns. Native Americans used the branches of black elderberry to make flutes, so it is sometimes called “the tree of music”.

The nutritional value of black elderberries are phenomenal! One cup of elderberries (approximately 145g) contains 10g of dietary fibre and 52mg of vitamin C. That’s 87% of your recommended daily intake! Today, black elderberry is most often taken as a supplement to help treat cold and flu symptoms and to help support the immune system due to its high vitamin C content. That is why we created Family Immune Syrup, to help support a healthy lifestyle.

Acerola Cherry

Acerola Cherries are a native tropical plant originating in the Caribbean and Mexico. They are well known for being naturally rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C is vital for protecting cells and maintaining healthy hair, bones, skin and blood vessels.  The protection of these cells help protect your body against certain infections and viruses. Not only that, but Acerola cherries taste great too!

What are acerola Cherries used for

Acerola cherries are used in many health supplements to give your immune system a boost, due to their high concentration in vitamin C. Vitamin C is an essential micronutrient that the body doesn’t produce it on its own, so it needs to be consumed regularly in your diet to maintain supply.

The fruits are full of potent antioxidants known as Anthocyanins. These give the cherries their bright red colour. One cup of Acerola cherries contains 1,700mg of vitamin C. You would have to drink 14 cups of orange juice to get that amount! In fact, historically Acerola cherries were used to prevent vitamin C deficiency and to treat scurvy: a rare condition that can occur if you do not have enough Vitamin C in your diet.

Acerola cherries also contain vitamin A, as well as small amounts of B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, copper, zinc and iron. You’ll find the vitamin A content in Acerola fruit is about the same as you will find in carrots, which are well-known as one of the greatest vitamin A sources.
